Swimming, the most popular recreational activity for children and teens and the 4th most popular sport in the US. It also has health benefits; it is a good exercise as an hour of strenuous swimming can burn up to 650 calories, and it can also reduce stress. Owning a swimming pool sure is nice, and when it’s summer, and it’s hot, it sure is nice to have access to a swimming pool at your back yard. However, having your own swimming pool sure is a luxury that most cannot afford; that’s why it’s important to know how to maintain and take care of your swimming pool.

Filter
It is vital to have a good, functioning pool filter as this clears out dirt and other contaminants from the water. It protects you and your pool from any harm. Without a proper functioning filter, your pool’s water will be polluted, cloudy and won’t be any good for a swim
Water Chemistry
Check your pool’s pH and chlorine levels at least twice a week is important for effective maintenance and care. pH level is the measure of how acidic the pool water is, the range should be 7.4 to 7.6. And the chlorine level should be at 1.0 to 3.0 parts per million.
Clean
Of course, you should clean your swimming pool at least once a week. Especially when you’re pool is located outside with a lot of trees and falling leaves. Empty the skimmer baskets of leaves and other debris from the water, also use a long net to skim the surface of the pool and maybe brush the side tiles with a pool brush, and use a pool vacuum cleaner to get that rubble at the bottom of the pool.
Shock the Pool
Add pool shock regularly, at least once a week. Add a hefty dose of chlorine to get rid of algae and other water contaminants. It is best to do this at night or dusk because if you do this during the day, the UV rays will eat up the chlorine and it won’t be able to do its job. After adding the chlorine, make sure to turn on the pump and filter and leave it overnight.

It is important to keep a schedule in cleaning your swimming pool to do proper care and maintenance. Just schedule this appropriately, and you won’t have any worries and can enjoy your pool anytime!…
